hardcore ftw

i love hardcore!

also, i hate those people who vote bad on something because it's a certain genre! people seem to zero my stuff because it's psytrance! people need to be more patient and listen to the whole song!

good song. i love the kick. is that distort->eq, or distort->eq->distort, or compress->distort->compress->eq->dist ort->eq, or what? or is it a sample. forgive my harshness, but samples suck >:(

btw, congrats on the vinyl. i dunno if that's special or not, but it sounds like a big deal. i mean, it doesn't seem like just anybody can request a vinyl to be pressed...can they?

Carf responds:

Thanks for the rev ;0 its hard to find some good hardcore at NG but I am glad that I at least could drop a relevent piece ;).
The bassdrum, which you seem to love, is just a plain sample. After years of producing the part of making melodies is more important for me then creating a bassdrum. If a sample sounds good, then its sufficient to use in a track.
I am a creator from the days that FTII rulez the music scene and back then, samples where it, there was NO way to create it like we do it these days. Yes I am lazy but I rather stick with the lazyness then play around for four hours to get a straight bassdrum while I could have setup a complete track in that same time.
But I like your point of view, and I can imagine that lots of people these days prefer to make their own sounds.

Sadly I did not hear anything anymore from that one guy, but you never know what the future is gonna bring, even if I dont release anything within 40 years, I still make music ;) It is just a part of me.

Aaah, effect overload!

The bass is nice and fat. But there's so many effects! Aaaah! The phaser (i think it's a phaser) sounds nice on the bass. But whatever EQ that is on the guitar or whatever that is is cutting out the frequencies that aren't being dominated by other instruments. Bascially, the bass usually takes the low frequencies, and the hat and other perc take the high frequencies. Synths should be mid to hi, with some exceptions. The guitar synth is having those mid frequencies cut out, so the remaining low and hi frequencies get caught in the hihat and bass sounds, and drowned out all together. See what I mean?

Hmm....

It's okay, but there's no tension and release. It's just gogogogogo. It's nice in the middle of a properly formed song (in fact, it's even better in the middle of a properly formed song). But a song formed 100% of it is just not...good.

Sorry for the bad review, but don't take it too hard.

Also, how do you use *a* MIDI? MIDI is a way to interface with different instruments and controllers, not a type of thing you can use on its own (like *a* car, *a* street, but not *a* gasoline).

Moltov responds:

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about in the beginning.
As for the midi, I took the tune from the midi file and put bass to it and tweaked it. Therefore I used a midi.

side chain compression

nice club song! i love the side chain compression on the bass. sounds like a benny benassi song.

great job. my only complaint is that it's too short! -1 star :(

Amazing

This is by far my favorite song from Sonic and Knuckles. Great job reconstructing it with just your voice.

Do I hear Autotune? The part at 0:23 and 1:00 in the back that slides down gave it away :) I thought the voices sounded quite robotic.

Short-Factor responds:

Actually I got carried away with Melodyne. I sing good but I was a bit too off and some parts sounded wrong.

Whaddaya know!

I use LMMS too. I've been using it for a while, though. Great song! Keep it up!

svinepels responds:

Thanks, this is one of my older songs. I've been using the program for quite a while too, but I don't make trance and techno like you, I make... well I don't know what to call it. Miscellaneous music.

not varied enough

There's not enough variation in the song. The samples were nice, and that instrument in the beginning was nice (not the phone). How did you do it?

StarGaming responds:

I made the song in LMMS

I don't understand though? Why the four!
Please PM me, so I can do better next time :)

lol

This is the first song I've ever heard that's made me laugh. It all fit together very nice. Honestly, I was expecting something very crappy. But no matter what I was expecting, this was incredible. You deserve my 10.

suprhuman responds:

Lol. Nice to hear. Thanks alot!

Congrats

I think you guys deserve #1 of the week. This is a great song.

But I want to ask where the Psytrance elements of this song are. Forgive my ignorance, but I only hear Harddance. I define Psytrance (at least the stuff I make) as fast (140 to 150 bpm), full of synths and samples, and with a nice filtered saw bass on every 16th note.

And I've heard Swedes making Harddance professionally. Ever heard of Basshunter? Yeah, IMO, he's not that good. I don't speak Swedish, but apparently his song "Boten Anna" is about an IRC bot.

Argyros responds:

:D Thanks!

And there isn't THAT much psytrance in this one, only a little. I kinda swung my style over to harddance as well for this track.

And the "Swede making harddance!?!?!" comment was sarcastic :P

Okay

I think the crowd samples in the background make it sound cheesy. Also, I think the bass was too prominent. Otherwise it was a good song. It reminded me a lot about Stadium Rave from Spongebob.
